Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Basalt Ridge Towing & Recovery, LLC ("we", "us") collects when you use the Basalt Ridge Auctions website, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number and password. Your password is stored scrambled (hashed), so we can't read it.
- Bidding and purchase records: the bids you place, the cars you win, and how you told us you plan to pay (cash, check or credit card). We do not collect card numbers on this site. Payment is made in person at our office.
- Email activity: whether you have confirmed your email address and whether you have opted in to new-vehicle emails.
- Technical information: like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested), and we use your IP address to limit repeated log-in and password-reset attempts.
How we use it
- To run the auctions: accepting bids, working out winners, and contacting winners about payment and pickup.
- To keep the site safe: preventing fraud, repeated sign-in attempts, and misuse.
- To keep records of sales and to resolve disputes.
- To email you (see below).
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- Other bidders and the public can see each car's bid amounts and times, but never your name or any other detail about you.
- Our staff can see your name, contact details, bids and purchases so they can run the auctions and contact winners.
- Service providers that help us run the site: our hosting provider (Railway) stores the site's data, and our email provider (Resend) delivers the emails we send you. They only handle your information to provide those services to us.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
We send the emails needed to use your account: confirming your email address, resetting your password, telling you when you've been outbid, and telling you when you've won. If you tick "Get notified as soon as new vehicles are posted" on your account page, we also email you when new cars are posted. Every one of those emails has a link to turn it off, and you can change the setting on your account page at any time.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics.
How long we keep it
We keep account and sales records for as long as we need them to run the business, meet our record-keeping obligations and resolve disputes. You can ask us to delete your account; we'll do so unless we're required to keep records of a sale.
Security
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and passwords are hashed. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use elsewhere.
Your choices
You can turn new-vehicle emails off at any time. To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, call or visit us using the details below.
Children
This site is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
